There is no doubt that actor Sidharth Malhotra is one of the hottest actors in Bollywood Today. The former model received the perfect launch pad when he was launched by ace director and producer Karan Johar in 2012’s ‘Student of the Year’.  Since then, Sidharth has cultivated an image as a style icon and a talented actor. Although he’s not exactly forthcoming when it comes to divulging juicy details about his personal life, we’ve managed to find out some facts about him that make him even more interesting.

Sidharth’s association with Karan Johar goes way back: Although he debuted with ‘Student of the Year’, Sidharth was under the mentorship of Karan Johan long before he was signed on as one of the leads in his film. The sultry actor first began working with Dharma Productions as an assistant director, working on films like ‘Dostana’ and ‘My Name is Khan’.

Sidharth faced a lot of rejection early on in his career: Before he started working as an assistant director, Sidharth was already a successful ramp model and tried to make a name for himself as an advertisement model. Despite his delicious hunky frame, the actor appeared for innumerable auditions but faced a lot of rejections.

Modelling just happened to him: Sidharth Malthotra was enjoying a quiet evening with his friends at a café when a casting agent discovered him. The agent encouraged 16 year old Sidharth to pursue a career in modelling, which later resulted in him winning second runner-up at the Gladrags mega-model and Manhunt pageant.

He was an international name long before Bollywood: Sidharth’s suave style did not go unnoticed by international foreign circuits as he was invited to walk the ramp as a show-stopper for many prestigious international brands. The former supermodel has walked the ramp at the most prestigious international Fashion weeks including Milan, Paris and New York Fashion Week.

Sidharth was supposed to debut with Fashion: Not everyone knows this, but Sidharth Malhotra was chosen for the role essayed by Arjan Bajwa in Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Fashion’. Since he was still under a contractual obligation with Gladrags, the actor had to pass on the role. Had that not been the case, Sidhart would have debuted in 2008.

Sidharth debuted on TV long before he did on the silver screen: Another lesser known known fact about Sidharth is that he made his TV debut on the popular Star Plus historical drama Prithviraj Chauhan, albeit in a small, supportive role. The show ran from 2005-2007 but Sidharth’s role went unnoticed as TV actor Rajat Tokas, who played the titular protagonist, stole the limelight.

Sidharth wants to play an antagonist: Although he has established himself as the quintessential boy-next-door, Sidharth Malhotra claims that his dream role would be one in which he can play the antagonist. He aspires to appear in roles such as the legendary Mogambo or Shaakaal. He would love to play a cool villain, like ‘Joker’ in the Batman series.
